Using Basil to Treat Acne Breakouts and Pimples

Gambar
Basil for Acne This is one of the newer home remedies in acne treatment and prevention.  Basil has long been used in cooking, but few know about it's powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Since acne is primarily caused by an overgrowth of bacteria, any remedy that contains antibacterial properties should be helpful; however, basil has extremely powerful antibacterial properties in comparison to other home remedies. In fact, it has been shown to stop the growth of some bacterias that have become resistant to antibiotics (such as staph infections).  Due to it's strong antibacterial properties, it is a very effective method of treating and preventing acne breakouts. It's anti-inflammatory properties help keep down swelling of pimples, especially cystic acne. The antioxidants provide excellent benefits for overall skin health.  Basil really is an all around great natural remedy for acne. Does using basil for acne actually work? The Internatio...

Using Tea Tree Oil to Treat Acne

Gambar
Tea tree oil is a powerful essential oil derived from the leaves of the melaleuca alternifolia plant. Many household products contain tea tree oil, such as toothpaste, lotions, shampoos, and so on. Studies have shown that tea tree oil is indeed effective in treating acne naturally.  Tea tree oil contains something called terpinen-4-ol, which is responsible for it's powerful antibacterial properties. Tea tree oil can be used as a toner, added to lotions or cleansers, or used as a spot treatment on it's own.  Many natural acne products that you find in stores will have tea tree oil as a main ingredient.  However, rather than spending money on pricey products, consider investing in a bottle of tea tree oil and creating your own acne treatments. Tea Tree Oil Toner : To make an all natural tea tree oil toner, just mix about 10 drops of tea tree oil with 1/2 cup of distilled water.  Store the toner in a glass bottle and apply using a cotton round or cotton ball.  If...

Things only people with ACNE will understand...

As an acne sufferer myself I can honestly say that there are many things that people without acne just don't understand.  When I had acne I HATED getting advice from people that had never even had a pimple.  I also HATED when someone got ONE pimple and acted like the world was ending, I mean, try having a face full of them! Not only was it embarrassing, but it was also painful.  Most people don't talk about the painful side of acne.  Having to poke and prod at your face with needles and other tools just to pop them, it's so awful! Here's a list of things that I'm sure only people with acne can relate to...I put this together just to help you remember that you are NOT alone in the fight against acne... Waking up each morning afraid to look in the mirror (because you know that new pimples have appeared overnight) Having to spend an hour or more in front of the mirror popping pimples just to go out in pubic Being paranoid about everything that touches your face (I lite...

Vitamin C Serum for Acne Scarring and Hyperpigmentation

Gambar
Research shows that using Vitamin C Serum is beneficial for those suffering from acne and acne scarring (hyperpigmentation).   Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants fight off highly reactive free radicals that permanently damage cells, including skin cells. Acne sufferers typically already have damaged skin, either from the acne itself or the products that are being applied to control the acne, so the use of Vitamin C Serum helps repair skin at a cellular level.   Acne scarring typically takes weeks or even months to fully heal.  Many are not aware of the benefits of Vitamin C Serum for acne scarring, however it is a scientifically proven method of repairing damaged skin and boosting collagen which helps eliminate the appearance of acne scars.    After researching various vitamin C serums I decided to try the VoilaVe Triple Action Vitamin C Serum .  Unlike the other vitamin C serums, this one comes with a convenient pump instead of a d...

Honey and Cinnamon Mask for Acne

Gambar
Honey Cinnamon Mask for Acne I've already discussed the benefits of using organic honey to treat acne, but recently I've discovered a way to combine honey and cinnamon into a powerful acne treatment mask.  You probably know that honey has natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, but few are aware that cinnamon also has strong antimicrobial properties.  Chemicals found in the cinnamon plant fight bacteria and fungi growth, which makes it a great remedy for acne. Honey Cinnamon Mask for Acne To make a honey cinnamon mask you will need: Pure cinnamon powder Organic honey (preferably Manuka honey) Mix together 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon into a paste.  If the paste seems thin you can add more cinnamon to thicken it so that it sticks to your face without melting off.  Apply the past all over your face using clean fingers or a clean (unused) makeup brush.  *Keep a makeup brush handy just for applying your face masks* Leave the mask o...
